For the third time in four years, at least one Red Knight hockey player was at the head table of the Mr. Hockey banquet.

This year, Spencer Naas was honored as a finalist for the award that was held at the St. Paul RiverCentre, Sunday, March 9.

Naas was among a qualified list of the best senior hockey players for the award. Minnesota Wild draft pick and Grand Rapids Thunderhawk Avery Peterson won the award announced by the Minnesota Minutemen.

Naas was supported by his entire Benilde-St. Margaret's hockey team at the banquet along with family and friends, including University of Connecticut assistant coach Joe Pereira, who was in attendance. Also in attendance was Naas' friend and teammate, Johnny Austin, who will be attending UConn with him this fall.

"Spencer Naas is not a only a great player but he truly loves and respects the game," Red Knight coach Ken Pauly said. "That comes through in his play and the way that he treats those people involved in the sport. His teammates in attendance were genuinely happy for their teammate and captain. That speaks volumes to Spencer's character."
