Final 40 minutes belong to Hilltoppers.

DULUTH, Minn. -- Marshall and Benilde-St. Margaret's played to a 1-1 tie through the game's first 10 minutes.

After that, it was all Hilltoppers as they would go on to score four goals in each of the first two periods to take an 8-1 victory from the Red Knights.

After George Grannis scored the first of his four goals on the night, five minutes, 44 seconds into the game, BSM got on the scoreboard when Matt Kocourek picked up a rebound off the back wall and quickly stuffed the puck into the left side of the net.

The Red Knights were unable to capitalize on four power-play chances while Marshall was 2-for-6 with the man advantage.

BSM heads west from Duluth to Grand Rapids, where the Red Knights will face the defending state Class AA champion in a 3 p.m. matinee.

Jerome Newhouse had an assist, two blocked shots and nine faceoff wins.
