Defense, goalies rule in Hill-Murray win over BSM
Empty-net goal sinks Red Knight chances of coming from behind.
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. -- Vincent Hurley's goal with two minutes, 13 seconds remaining in the first period snapped a 1-1 tie and Remington Keopple outdueled Carson Limesand as 19th-ranked Hill-Murray handed Benilde-St. Margaret's a 3-1 defeat.
While Keopple's defense limited the Red Knights to just 17 shots on goal, including just two in the final period.
Limesand, after giving up two goals on the first eight shots he faced, Limesand stopped the final 19 shots he faced.
After the hosts struck first just 3:41 into the game, Jerome Newhouse scored eight minutes later when he finished a rush by coming off the left-wing boards and scoring from the bottom of the left faceoff circle.
Hurley's goal, which proved to be the difference maker, came just one second after the Pioneers' first power-play opportunity ended.

The 2-1 score would not change for over 35 minutes when Ben Helgeson sealed the Hill-Murray win by scoring into an empty net with 69 seconds to play in the game.
The Pioneers held a 28-17 advantage in shots on goal, with Limesand stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced.
The Red Knights return to action, Tuesday, when they return home for a 7 p.m. Metro West Conference game versus Chanhassen.
