Four-goal comeback at Chanhassen highlights busy week for BSM.

Benilde-St. Margaret's won a pair of Metro West Conference games while playing three times in four days.

The week opened, Tuesday, with a thrilling four-goal, come-from-behind win at Chanassen and a convincing win over Chaska, Friday, which put the Red Knights within two points of clinching a at least a share of the conference title.

BSM 7, Chanhassen 6

VICTORIA, Minn. -- Few, if any, of those in attendance had ever seen the ending to a game they witnessed Tuesday at the Victoria Recreation Center.

Benilde-St. Margaret's used three consecutive extra-attacker goals to tie the game with one minute, 19 seconds to play and, with 5.5 seconds to play, Dylan Hoen the the Red Knights' fifth consecutive goal, resulting in a 7-6 victory.

The Storm scored their first two goals just 15 seconds apart and, just 2:30 into the contest, held a 2-0 lead.

Hoen cut that lead in half when scored at 4:59 but two more Chanhassen goals, giving the hosts four goals on seven shots, Chasen Red Knight starting goalie Carson Limesand.

Matt Kocourek's first career hat trick saw him score two extra-attacker goals to help BSM overcome a 6-2 deficit.

Just 35 seconds after Jonathan Vitelli took over in goal, Kocourek scored the first of his three goals to send the teams into the first intermission with Chanhassen hold a 4-2 lead.

The Storm quickly added to their lead with a power-play goal just 46 seconds into the middle stanza and, when T.J. Truso made it 6-2, Limesand found himself back in the Red Knight net.

BSM's comeback started with 1:35 remaining in the second period as a faceoff win by Hoen in his own zone led to a 3-on-2 rush, with Jerome Newhouse passing the puck off the left wing to Joe Collins in the middle. Collins then deked around Chanhassen goalie Josh Weyandt and scored on his backhand into an empty net.

From that point, the Red Knights dominated the game, outshooting their hosts, 20-2 in the final period while scoring four unanswered goals.

However, despite the dominance, it took until 10:47 before Kocourek scored the first of those goals, a power-play tally with Limesand removed for an extra attacker. But the the frenetic fish was only just begging.

With 2:34 to play and Limesand off for an extra attacker once again, BSM got a goal from an unexpected source when Peter Keese won a battle for a loose puck along the end boards, getting the puck to Jonah Mortenson, who scored his fourth goal of the season when his shot from the right-wing boards found its way through traffic and into the net.

BSM was able to gain possession of the puck in the Chanhassen zone one more time to enable Limesand to get off the ice for an extra attacker.

As the extra attacker, Kocourek bolted straight for the Storm net and rarely left the slot, where he eventually picked up a deflection off of Newhouse before burying his 12th goal of the season tie tie the game with 1:19 to play.

The game winner came when the Red Knights got the puck to the Storm goal, creating a scramble and Hoen, after walking out of the left corner, found the puck on the left side of the crease and poked home the game winner.

Newhouse picked up four assists in the game, including the primary assists on BSM's final two goals.

Dylan Hoen assisted on all three Red Knight goals versus Minnetonka.

Minnetonka 7, BSM 3

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Minnetonka scored four unanswered goals, breaking a 3-3 tie en route to a 7-3 win over Benilde-St. Margaret's.

Although the Skippers scored first, just five minutes into the game, goals by Jerome Newhouse and Joe Collins would give the Red Knights a 2-1 lead, but goals by Bobby Brink and Dylan Heiam just 19 seconds apart sent Minnetonka into the first intermission with a 3-2 lead.

Joe Collins' team-leading 17th goal of the season in the opening minute of the second period tied the score.

The two teams battled evenly for nearly the remainder of the period but Brink and Joe Molenaar, who scored the game's first goal, scored goals just 52 seconds apart with just over a minute remaining in the frame.

Brink then completed his hat trick just 35 seconds into the final period and Molenaar finished the scoring with his third goal of the game with 2:22 to play as the Skippers snapped the Red Knights' six-game winning streak.

BSM 5, Chaska 1

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Carson Limesand made 27 saves and Dylan Hoen had his third three-point performance in four days as Benilde-St. Margaret's claimed a key Metro West Conference win with a 5-1 victory over Chaska.

The Red Knights took a 3-0 lead when they scored three first-period goals in a span of four minutes, five seconds, with Hoen and Ian Bahr giving them a 2-0 lead before Seamus Foley's power-play tally made it a 3-0 game after one period.

That lead held up for nearly 17 minutes before Billy Bronson notched the Hawks' lone goal with 3:49 to play in the second period.

Carson Limesand's 27-save effort highlighted the Red Knights 5-1 victory.

BSM then played shut-down defense in the final period and the team's leading scorer, Joe Collins, helped set up Nate Schweitzer's fifth goal of the season before tallying his 17th of the season to finish the scoring.

BSM now takes eight days before returning to action for Senior Knight, a 2:30 p.m. matinee with Eden Prairie next Saturday.
