Eden Prairie overcomes Vitelli's goaltending performance.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Jonathan Vitelli stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced but Eden Prairie scored first and added a pair of empty-net goals before Benilde-St. Margaret's could get on the scoreboard as the Eagles handed the Red Knights a 3-1 defeat.

Vitelli made 14 first-period saves, only allowing Ryan Lesko's goal with 4:22 to play in the opening frame, as the visitors took a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles would not get another shot past the BSM netminder but they scored two empty-net goals in a 22-second span late in the third period as the hosts tried to tie the game.

The Red Knights would finally get on the scoreboard when Jordan Roo scored with 52 seconds to play to end Eden Prairie's shutout bid.

Up next for BSM is an "away" game Tuesday night versus St. Louis Park at the Rec Center. The Red Knights, who have already secured a share of the Metro West Conference title, need a win or a tie to claim the outright conference crown.

Jordan Roo scored BSM's lone goal of the game with 52 seconds to play.
