Danny Charleston returns to his alma mater for a second time as an assistant coach.
He was an assistant coach for the 2011-12 team, which won the Class AA state championship.
After spending the 2011-12 season as a member of the Red Knight staff, Charleston took over as boys’ head coach for Armstrong for two seasons, and then took the helm as the AC Wings coach for 11 seasons when Armstrong and Cooper merged.
During his tenure, he amassed 131 wins in 13 seasons.
A member of BSM’s 2001 Class A state championship team, Charleston tallied 20 goals and 42 points. He would go to play four seasons in the USHL, where he scored 42 goals and 131 points in 170 games.
He went on to play four seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he scored 43 goals and 116 points in 159 games.
He played parts of three seasons professionally, playing 12 games in the AHL and 57 games in the ECHL, recording 18 goals and 66 points in 57 career games. Two of his professional seasons saw him as a member of the New Jersey Devils' organization.
