Cadets use five-goal first period to get past Red Knights

St. Thomas scored five goals in less than eight minutes to garner victory over BSM.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- St. Thomas scored five goals in the span of seven minutes, 24 seconds, and cruised to an 8-2 win over Benilde-St. Margaret's in junior varsity action.

The Cadets, who had a 37-17 advantage in shots on goal for the game, scored five times on 15 shots in the opening period and led 6-0 before Ryan Gearen scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season to end the shutout.

St. Thomas scored again late in the second period and added a third-period goal before Aiden Wahlstrom scored for BSM to make the final 8-2.

BSM returns to action Saturday, with a 12:30 p.m. home game versus Armstrong/Cooper.


Ryan Gearen's team-leading fourth goal of the season, in the second period, got the Red Knights on the scoreboard.
