Benilde-St. Margaret's Boys' Hockey

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Jackson Bisson and Cooper Gay both recorded their first career hat tricks and sixth-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's cruised to an 8-0 win over Armstrong/Cooper.

Coming off Wednesday's 3-2 loss to 10th-ranked St. Thomas, the Red Knights were looking to get back in the win column, and did so in a big way, out-shooting the Wings, 43-15 while scoring twice on the power-play.

Something on which BSM usually starts the season slow, the Red Knights were just 2-for-18 with the man advantage through five games, but have gone 3-for-9 in their last two games.

James Callahan's seeing-eye shot from the left circle at six minutes, two seconds, of the second period, was BSM's first power-play goal and gave it a 4-0 lead.

Gay capped his hat trick with the team's second power-play goal when he slammed home a rebound 1:41 into the final period.

Charlie Warnert opened the scoring when he fired a shot past A/C goalie Owen Reeve at 5:06 of the opening period and Gay knocked in his own rebound, taking a hit at the right side of the net to do so, with 30 seconds remaining in the frame to second the hosts into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.

Bisson then opened the second period when he scored from the left circle after taking a pass from Asher Connolly, who tallied a career-high three assists in the game.

Callahan followed with his power-play goal and appeared to have a second goal just 90 seconds later with a shot from the top of the right circle. However, Bisson redirected the puck on its way to the net for a 5-0 lead.

The final goal of the four-goal period came Gay intercepted a pass at the Wings' blue line and scored an unassisted goal with 1:04 to play in the stanza.

While the Red Knights were putting on an offensive show, Carson Limesand was backstopping the win. He stopped all 10 shots he faced in the second period and finished with 15 stops for his second shutout of the season.

The shutout was the 10th of his career, breaking a tie with Mark Guggenberger to move into second place by himself on BSM's all-time list, which is topped by Jake Schuman's 15 shutouts.

Up next for the Red Knights is 18th-ranked Wayzata. After a five-game homestand, BSM will be at the Plymouth Ice Center to face the Trojans, Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m.
