Bonin's hat trick overcomes Red Knights first-period lead.

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's took a 2-1 lead late in the first period but Brendan Bonin scored with 54 second remaining in the opening period, began the second period with two goals to complete his hat trick, and Hill-Murray posted a 5-3 win over the Red Knights' junior varsity.

The Pioneers struck just 23 seconds into the game but a power-play goal by Aiden Wahlstrom and a goal by Ben Thompson with 3:46 to play in the first period gave BSM a 2-1 lead.

Bonin tied the game at 2-2 going into the first intermission and then scored at 6:06 and 8:43, a short-handed tally, of the second period, completing his hat trick and give Hill-Murray a 4-2 lead.

Ben Thompson's goal gave BSM a 2-1 lead in the first period.

With 3:28 to play in the middle stanza, Simon Seidl gave the Pioneers a 5-2 lead with a power-play goal but, just 21 seconds later, Quinn Schliesman got BSM back to within two goals with his sixth goal of the season.

The goalies took over in the third period as Jack Olson stopped all 12 shots he faced, finishing with 30 saves, and Jack Erickson stopped all seven he faced for the Pioneers to finish with 21 stops.

The Red Knights are idle for a week before beginning Metro West Conference play next Thursday, as they take on Bloomington Jefferson in a 5 p.m. match up at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
