Junior varsity cruises to five-goal win in conference opener

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Thirteen of 16 skated scored points and Benile-St. Margaret's limited Bloomington Jefferson to just nine shots on goal as the Red Knights opened Metro West Conference play with a 6-1 victory.

BSM scored twice in each period and got the scoring going early when Charlie Conway scored two minutes, four seconds into the opening game and Ryan Baird closed out the period with a power-play goal with 58 seconds to play in the first stanza.

It was a pair of quick goals in the second period that, essentially, put the game away as Mason Baldwin and Mitchell West scored 23 second apart to make it a 4-0 game with 6:16 to play in the middle session.

Jefferson scored their lone goal on the power play to open the third period at 2:27 but, four minutes later, Charlie Hoch restored the four-goal lead.

The final tally came with 1:15 to play in the game when A.J. Pauly scored on the power-play to finish off the five-goal victory.

Among 13 players with points, five recorded multiple-point games as Baldwin, Conway and Baird each had a goal and an assist and Ben Norris and Luke Drews contributed two assist each.

Next up for the Red Knights is Wednesday's home match up with Mahtomedi, which is scheduled to get underway at 5:00 p.m.


Ryan Baird had a goal and an assist, giving him three points in his first two games.
