Mortenson's hat trick leads BSM to sixth win of the season.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Second-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's continued its winning ways as the Red Knights remained unbeaten with a 12-0 Metro West Conference win over Bloomington Kennedy.

Adam Marshall got the scoring going just 48 seconds into the contest and Jonah Mortenson scored the first two of his three goals to give BSM at 3-0 lead.

Goals by Asher Connolly, Tristan Sarsland and Brady Yakesh late in the opening frame sent the game into the first intermission with the guests holding a 6-0 lead.

Mortenson then completed his first career hat trick less than two minutes into the second, which also saw Marshall score short-handed, his team-leading seventh goal of the season, and Sarsland score on the power-play around James Callahan's first goal of the season as the 10-0 lead assured the third period would be played in running time.

In that third period, BSM tacked on two more goals as Connolly scored less than five minutes into the final stanza and Peter Giertsen added his first career goal with one minutes, 12 seconds to play in the game.

Ten players recorded multiple point games for the Red Knights, led by Sarsland's four-point effort. Nick Mikan and Grant Ellings added three assists while Mortenson and Connolly also chipped in with three points apiece.

BSM had a 55-9 advantage in shots on goal in the contest as Charlie Frattalone, in his season debut, stopped all nine shots he faced to earn the shutout win.

Next up for BSM is Tuesday's return to the Bloomington Ice Garden as they will face Bloomington Jefferson in a 7:15 p.m. contest.

Tristan Sarsland tied a career high with four point, including his first career two-goal game.
