Norris, Baird score goal, assist in second loss of the season.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Eden Prairie scored twice in each period and Benilde-St. Margaret's found itself trying to play catch-up all night before dropping a 6-4 decision.

After the teams skated to a 2-2 tie through the first period, with Peter Giertsen and Ben Norris scoring for the Red Knights, the Eagles scored twice in the opening seven minutes of the second period and held their guests scoreless during the 17-minute frame.

They then took a 5-2 lead just 45 seconds into the final period and the score remained that way until Max Wendt became the fourth Red Knight to reach the 10-goal mark on the season, with 1:59 to play in the game.

Down two goals, BSM pulled goalie Brennan Chapman for an extra attacker following the goals but, 26 seconds later, the hosts scored into the empty net to seal the win.

However, the Red Knights refused to quit and, with seven seconds to play, Carter Strom found the back of the net to finish the scoring.

Eden Prairie had a 33-24 advantage in shots on goal as Chapman recorded 27 saves in the contest.

Next up for BSM is the final Metro West Conference game of the season as the Red Knights travel to Chaska to a 5 p.m. game before an eight-day layoff.

Ryan Baird now has 11 goals and 25 points in 11 games.
