BSM overcomes second period deficit for 7-5 win.

CHASKA, Minn. -- Asher Connolly became the first Red Knight in seven years to score four goals in a game and Grant Ellings added a goal and two assists as Benilde-St. Margaret's overcame a second-period deficit to record a 7-5 win at Chaska.

Connolly's four-goal outing was the first by a BSM player since Spencer Naas struck for four, Feb. 15, 2014, in a win over Stillwater

The victory gives the Red Knights an unbeaten 8-0-0 record to finish Metro West Conference play and fourth-ranked BSM is now 11-1-0 on the season.

Connolly opened the game's scoring when he scored short handed, eight minutes 19 seconds into the game.

The lead, however, was short lived as Sam Rinzel scored the first of his two goals for the Hawks less than two minutes later.

Ellings restored the BSM the Red Knight lead just 59 seconds into the second period but, again, it lasted less than two minutes when Sully Scholle scored the first of his two goals.

Rinzel then gave the Hawks their only lead of the game at the 6:02 mark of the middle frame but it was BSM's turn to make that lead a short one.

Grant Ellings chipped in with three points to give him 134 in 112 career games.

Connolly's second goal came just 21 seconds later and he completed his hat trick with 2:38 remaining in the fame to give the Red Knights a lead they would not relinquish.

Nick Mikan, who was active all night and led both team with eight shots on goal, scored with 1:08 remaining in the second period to keep the visitors in the lead with Scholle scored just nine seconds into the second period.

Connolly quick restored the two goal lead when he scored 39 seconds later but Matt Magnuson's power-play goal at 6:39 would send the game into its late stages with BSM leading by a goal.

The Red Knights finally finished off the win when Jackson Bisson flipped the puck up the left-wing boards, where Ellings kicked the puck back to Tristan Sarsland, whose slid the puck 175 feet into an empty net.

BSM held a commanding 51-25 advantage in shots on goal with Charlie Frattalone earning his second win of the season with a 20-save effort.

An eight-day break is ahead for the Red Knights before they face 13th-ranked Edina, next Friday, in a 7 p.m. game at Braemar Arena, followed the next night by their first home game in 21 days when BSM hosts eighth-ranked Hill-Murray at 7 p.m.
