RICHFIELD, Minn. -- A total of 13 of Benilde-St. Margarets' 18 skaters collected points and 16 of 18 recorded shots on goal as the Red Knights ended a three-game losing streak with a 6-1 win at Holy Angels.
It took BSM nearly 11 minutes to get on the scoreboard but, when it did, three goals in three minutes got the Red Knights out to a first-period lead.
With six minutes, 13 seconds remaining in the opening period, James Callahan's shot from the left point found it's way through traffic after Gino Gatti out-raced a Stars' defenseman for a loose puck and he got the puck to Ryan Gearen as the duo collected assists on the game-opening goals.
It took just over two minutes before Grant Ellings banged home a rebound and, with 3:12 to play in the opening frame, Michael Risteau intercepted a Holy Angels pass in the neutral and skated in alone for an unassisted goal.
Tristan Sarsland reached double-digits in goals when he scored his 10th of the season.
The second period saw just one goal scored as Mitchell Dokman made it a 4-0 game as he scored off assists from Nck Mikan and Aiden Wahlstrom.
Sam Schaffer opened the third-period scoring for Holy Angels but then the big guns showed up for the Red Knights as Ashey Connolly scored on a goal-mouth scramble while on the power-play and Tristan Sarsland's 10th goal of the season finished the scoring.
The game saw 13 penalties called totaling 32 minutes, including a pair of major penalties and BSM's strong penalty-kill was 6-for-6, giving them a .927 penalty-kill efficiency on the season.
A busy final week of the season sees the Red Knights in action for the first of two back-to-back games and their regular-season home finale. BSM is slated to host 12th-ranked Wayzata, Wednesday, at 7 p.m.
The following evening, the Red Knights will close out the season with a 7 p.m. game at 19th-ranked Holy Family.
