Junior defenseman earns recognition on Star Tribune squad

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Minneapolis Star Tribune recognized the play of Benilde-St. Margaret's junior defenseman Tristan Sarsland this season by naming him to its third-team All-Metro squad.

A regular on the BSM blue line for three years, he has helped to lead the team to three consecutive Section 6AA championship games.

Sarsland was second on the team in goals (12) and shots on goal (88), while leading the team in average ice time (26:06) and blocked shots (31).

"Tristan was our best player all season long," BSM head coach Ken Pauly said. "He combines great skill with physical play and a strong desire to win."

The Red Knight blueliner has made a verbal commitment to attend and play hockey at Colorado College where he could potentially join BSM alums Connor Mayer, who finished his sophomore season with the Tigers this season, and Nate Schweitzer ('20), who will be a freshman for CC next season.

Tristan Sarsland earned his first career post-season honor after tallying 12 goals and 25 points in 20 games.

In three varsity seasons, Sarsland has scored 18 goals and 55 while recording a +57 rating.

Next season, he is expected to lead a group of defensemen which returns five of six regulars to anchor the back end for the Red Knights.
