Koskie's hat trick leads Red Knights to 3-3 tie.

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. -- Caleb Koskie scored all three Benilde-St. Margaret's goals, the last with two minutes, 31 seconds to play in the third period, as the Red Knights' junior varsity came from behind for a 3-3 overtime tie at Hill-Murray.

Koskie's first goal came just 87 seconds into his BSM career as he scored scored on the game's first power play to give his team an early lead.

The Pioneers answered twice in the first period with power-play tallies and led 2-1 less than seven minutes into the game.

They then went up 3-1 with a third power-play goal, which came with 2:19 to play in the second period, before Koskie scored the game's first even-strength goal 39 seconds later.

As the game wound down, the hosts held most of the play as they out-shot BSM, 18-4, in the third period but it was Koskie again, completing his hat trick with a second helper from Maceo Phillips, also making his debut as a Red Knight, to tie the game in the closing minutes before the teams skated through a scoreless overtime period.

Mason McElroy, another player in his first game wearing the red and white, turned aside 41 shots in the game as Hill-Murray held a commanding 44-20 margin in shots on goal.

Next up for the Red Knights is the Champions' Cup at the St. Louis Park Rec Center. BSM faces Hermantown, Friday, at 6 p.m. on the east rink before taking on Eden Prairie, Saturday, also on the east rink, at 2:30 p.m.
