Raiders use late goals to hold off Red Knights

Cretin-Derham hall goal with 11 seconds to play in second period snaps 3-3 tie.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Brady Yakesh got things started for the Red Knights with the game's first goal but Cretin-Derham Hall scored the next three goals and then snapped a 3-3 tie late in the second period en route to a 5-3 win.

With one minute, 50 seconds remaining in the opening period, Mason Stenger parked himself in front of the Raiders' net and batted in a loose puck to cut the hosts' lead to 3-2 entering the first intermission.

Michael Risteau scored his team-lead fourth goal of the season at 5:33 of the middle period to tie the scored but it was Jake Sondreal's goal with 11 seconds to play in the middle frame with gave CDH the lead for good.

The Raiders would add one more goal in the third period and Marko Belak stopped all 11 shots he faced over the game's final 17 minutes to earn the win.

BSM held a 36-34 edge in shots on goal with Mason McElroy stopping 29 shots.

Next up for the Red Knights is a return to the St. Louis Park Rec Center, Saturday, for a 7 p.m. contest versus Holy Family.


Mason Stenger scored his first career goal on the power play late in the second period.
