BSM uses 5-on-3 power-play goal for the second game in a row.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- After scoring a 5-on-3 power-play goal in overtime yesterday, Benilde-St. Margaret's got another, this time from Tristan Sarsland, with 0.3 seconds remaining in the third period as the 15th-ranked Red Knights upset sixth-ranked Maple Grove, 3-2, in the teams' second game of the Tradition in the Park tournament.

The game-winning goal came when Adam Marshall's shot from the slot was stopped by Crimson goalie Toby Hopp. The puck then bounced high in the air and out of the Maple Grove zone.

Sarsland grabbed the loose puck in the neutral zone as BSM regrouped. He came up the right side, weaved his way past a Crimson defender and beat Hopp to extend BSM's winning streak to four games.

After dominating the first period, holding a 15-3 advantage in shots on goal in the opening 17 minutes, the Red Knights took the opening lead two minutes, 54 seconds into the second period when Marshall, who recorded his 100th career point on Sarsland's goal, buried a rebound as the trailing forward on a BSM rush.

The Crimson got their bearings shortly thereafter and controlled much of the play through the remainder of the middle period, out-shooting the Red Knights, 14-8, while getting a power-play goal less than two minutes after Marshall's goal, and then took the lead at the 9:40 mark of the frame.

Ryan Gearen collected his second primary assist of the game when Peter Giertsen tip in his rebound at 4:55 of the final period, extending his goal-scoring streak to three game.

Peter Giertsen extended his goal-scoring streak to three games as he tied the score at 2-2 in the third period.

That goal set up Sarsland's last-second heroics as the Red Knights made it six games in a row with a power-play goal. It was his seventh shot on goal of the game and came one game after matching his career-high of eight shots, in the win over Rogers.

Mason McElroy continued to backstop the Red Knights as he stopped 25 of 27 shots, with BSM holding a 35-27 advantage in shots on goal.

The Red Knights wrap up play in the Tradition in the Park tournament, tomorrow, when they face 17th-ranked Stillwater in a game scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
