Chapman stops 31 in loss to Hornets.

EDINA, Minn. -- A power-play goal with 11:38 to play in the game snapped a 1-1 tie and enabled Edina to down the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity, 2-1.

The Hornets enjoyed a 33-17 advantage in shots on goal but Brennan Chapman kept the Red Knights in the game and turned aside 31 shots on the night.

However, the home team jumped out on top with three minutes, 20 seconds remaining in the opening period as Edina out-shot BSM, 10-1, in the opening 17 minutes.

The Red Knights' lone goal came at 5:59 of the second period as Ryan Baird scored his fourth goal of the season, from Liam Moser and Max Wendt.

BSM was strong defensively, blocking 11 shots to aid Chapman but the Hornets recorded 10 of their 33 shots during the course of four power-play chances.

Ryan Baird had the Red Knights' lone goal and a team-high five shot.

The Red Knights begin Metro West Conference play, Tuesday, when they will face Chaska at the Chaska Community Center. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
