After near 36 minutes without a goal, BSM scored three in a 5:07 span.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- It took Benilde-St. Margarets' offense over two periods to get going but, when it did, it results in three goals early in the third period and Sam Schumacher made 12 saves in the final period to preserve a 3-0 shutout win over St. Louis Park.

The Red Knights had a 30-13 advantage in shots on goal through the first two periods, but the Orioles' Josh Middleton turned aside all 30 shots to send the game into the final period in a scoreless tie.

BSM finally got on the scoreboard when Brendan McMorrow got the puck inside his own blue line and made a tape-to-tape pass across the ice to Michael Risteau at the SLP blue line.

The Red Knights had to kill five penalties in the final period and the first one came just 40 seconds after they had taken the lead.

From there, Risteau carried the puck into the left circle before making a behind-the-back pass to Drew Stewart in the slot and the sophomore centerman made a forehand-to-backhand move to deke Middleton to the ice before tucking the puck behind him for the game's first goal.

Sam Schumacher posted a shutout in his varsity debut and was named BSM's player of the game.

Stewart would force a turnover during the penalty kill inside his own blueline. He then fought through a check and carried the puck up the right side all the way into the bottom of the right circle in the Orioles' zone.

He then slid the puck across to Brady Yakesh, who scored his second short-handed goal in as many games with a goalmouth tip-in.

After taking, and killing, a second penalty in the third period, BSM got its third goal from Michael Risteau when Bjorn Lervick shot a puck the hit Stewart in the slot.

Stewart quickly grabbed the loose puck, shot on goal and Risteau picked up the rebound on the left side and found the back of the net to finish the scoring.

Eight of St. Louis Park's 12 third-period shots on goal came on the power play but Schumacher was the team's best penalty killer, stopping all eight shots and nine power-play shots for the game, tallying a 25-save shutout as BSM held a 46-25 advantage in shots on goal.

With the teams playing just once this season, the Red Knights collected four points in the Metro West Conference standings to tie both St. Louis Park and Bloomington Jefferson for fourth, despite having play just two games and having four games in hand on the Jaguars and five on the Orioles.

Jefferson will be BSM's next opponent as the team's are slated to faceoff Tuesday, at the Bloomington Ice Garden at 7 p.m.
