Red Knights cruise past Jaguars

Marshall posts five-point night in win over Jefferson.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Adam Marshall tied career highs with his third career hat trick and second five-point game in his last three contests, added a career-high 13 shots on goal and fifth-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's remained unbeaten in Metro West Conference play with an 8-1 win at Bloomington Jefferson.

Marshall had points on all three of the Red Knights' first-period goals, scoring on the power play with seven minutes, 59 seconds remaining in the frame, and set upgoals by Tristan Sarsland and Mitchell Dokman in the final 1:45 of the period.

The first period saw BSM shutout the Jaguars on the scoreboard and in the shots on goal column, outshooting the host team, 26-0.

A 23-4 advantage in shots on goal in the second period, leading to a pair of Red Knight goals as Michael Risteau scored at 4:21 of the middle stanza before Marshall scored his second power-play goal of the game with 6:17 to play in the period.

He then completed his hat trick just 79 seconds into the final period before Jefferson finally go on the scoreboard 3:02 into the third period.

The game went into running time permanently at the 6:25 mark when Drew Stewart scored his ninth goal of the season and, with 48 seconds to play, A.J. Pauly banged home a loose puck from the right side of the net to finish the scoring.


Tristan Sarsland recorded four points and a career-high 12 shots on goal.

BSM allowed just seven shots on goal in the contest, holding a 62-7 advantage in shots on goal. Ten of those 62 shots came on the power play as the Red Knights converted two of three power-play opportunities. The also record three shots during four minutes of penalty-kill time.

Next up for BSM is a return to the St. Louis Park Rec Center, Thursday, for a 7 p.m. meeting with Holy Angels.
