Five goals and 36 shots in the middle frame lead BSM to 9-2 win.

WACONIA, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's racked up 36 second-period shots on goal, scoring five times, which blew open a one-goal game and led the Red Knights to a 9-2 junior varsity win over Waconia.

Liam Moser's goal, four minutes, 15 seconds into the game, gave BSM an early lead but it would be the only goal of the opening frame.

That turned around in the second period after Landon Martinson tied the game 2:39 into the middle session.

Liam Kyle restored the Red Knights' lead 65 seconds later and began BSM's second-period onslaught.

The visitors went on to score four goals in a span of 2:01 as Ryan Baird scored his team-leading 15th and Mitchell West scored the first of his two goals, followed 45 seconds later by Moser's second goal.

With a 5-1 lead, the Red Knights didn't have to wait long to turn the game into a six-goal contest as Max Wendt scored just 10 seconds later.

With BSM looking to get the game to running time, the Wildcats scored just 58 seconds into the final period.

West then scored his second goal of the game 3:15 into the final period and Nik Wahlstrom's goal midway through the frame sent the game into running time.

The Red Knights then got another goal from Max Wendt, his 10th of the season, to complete the game's scoring with 3:18 to play.

Liam Moser scored the game's first goal and was one of three Red Knights with multiple-goal games.

BSM added 20 more shots on goal in the final period to tally 68 for the game, holding a 68-19 advantage.

Charlie Winegarner collected the victory in goal for BSM, raising his record to a team-best 6-2-1, by stopping 17 shots.

Saturday, the Red Knights will be at the Bloomington Ice Garden, beginning at 1 p.m., where they will face Metro West Conference foe Bloomington Kennedy.
