Opening five minutes sends Red Knights onto rout of Wildcats

Seven-goal onslaught paces BSM to win over Waconia.

WACONIA, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's scored seven goals in the game's first five minutes, 46 seconds, and the Red Knights cruised from there, claiming a 13-0 win over Waconia.

The fireworks began just 34 seconds into the contest when Mitchell Dokman opened the scoring and, 35 seconds late, Brendan McMorrow made it a 2-0 lead with Adam Marshall setting up both tallies.

The third goal came on a shot from the left point as Bjorn Lervick scored the first of his career and, just 12 seconds later, A.J. Pauly scored the first of his two opening-period goals.

The puck continued to find the back of the net fro the Red Knights as Michael Risteau, who recorded a hat trick and a career-best five points, scored at 2:53 of the opening frame.

Ben Norris was next to get into the goal-scoring parade as four of BSM's opening six goals came from each of their four lines.

Pauly scored his second goal and gave his team a 7-0 lead at 5:46 before the scoring slowed.

It was nearly five minutes later before Drew Stewart scored the first of his two goals with 6:41 to play in the opening frame and a 31-2 advantage in shots on goal led to an 8-0 first-period lead.

The second period saw three more goals scored by the visitor as Norris and Risteau both scored their second goals of the game before Tristan Sarsland got on the board with a blast from the top of the slot.


A.J. Pauly had a career night, scoring twice in the opening period before adding a second-period assist.

After recording eight shots in the second period, the hosts failed to register a shot on goal in the final period as Stewart added his second goal of the game just 38 seconds into the period and Risteau completed his hat trick at the 7:54 mark.

All 18 skaters for the Red Knights tallied at least one point in the game and 17 of those 18 recorded at least one shot on goal.

In goal for BSM, Sam Schumacher recorded his second shutout in two starts and has stopped has stopped all 37 shots he has faced in three appearances.

The Red Knights are now idle until Saturday when they face Bloomington Kennedy, at the Bloomington Ice Garden, in a 3 p.m. West Metro Conference matinee.
