Third-period goal snaps tie and Red Knights' 15-game winning streak.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Chaska avenged a 3-2 overtime loss at home to Benilde-St. Margaret's by handing the Red Knights a 2-1 loss on at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

After 33 minutes of scoreless hockey, in which Hawk goalie Carter Wishart and BSM netminder Mason McElroy stood out, Chaska got on the scoreboard first with 38 seconds to play in the second period and went into the second intermission with a 1-0 lead.

In game clock time, that lead last just 54 seconds as Tristan Sarsland made a pass into the neutral zone off the right boards.

Mitchell Dokman tipped the puck off the boards for Brendan McMorrow to pick up and the sophomore centerman collected the puck, skated into the right circle before cutting to the net and beating Wishart with a low shot from 10 feet out.

The teams battled through the next 10 minutes before Timmy Leroy, who set up the game's first goal, scored with 6:59 to play and the Hawks were able to kill a late penalty and hold on for the 2-1 win.

As one would expect, virtually all of the statistics were even as BSM held a slight, 30-26, edge in shots on goal. There were only three penalties in the game, with Chaska taking two of the three.

Wishart, who stopped 34 of 37 shots when the teams met earlier this season, stopped 29 of 30 in earning the victory.

Tristan Sarsland picked up an assist and recorded five shots on goal.

McElroy, stopped 24 of 26 as the rookie goaltender lost for just the fourth time this season in 17 starts.

BSM will play three times in the upcoming final week of the regular season, starting with Tuesday's Metro West Conference game at the St. Louis Park Rec Center versus Chanhassen. Opening faceoff is slated for 7 p.m.

The Red Knights will play a non-conference game, Thursday, at Champlin Park, before wrapping up the regular season, Saturday, by hosting conference newcomer New Prague.
