Red Knights JV earn shutout for 15th win of the season

BSM overcomes slow start for 4-0 win.

CHAMPLIN, Minn. -- After an opening 15 minutes, which saw the teams combine for just five shots on goal, Benilde-St. Margaret's scored twice in each of the final two periods to record its 15th win of the season, a 4-0 win at Champlin Park.

After tallying just four shots in the first period, the Red Knights had 18 in the second period but were still unable to score for almost 11 minutes when Mikey Lindberg finally broke through to score his second goal of the season with 4:03 remaining in the middle session to break the ice.

It took just 42 more seconds for BSM to gain a 2-0 advantage when Mitchell West scored his 11th goal of the season and, after two periods, the Red Knights has a 22-9 advantage in shots.

The final period was just 2:23 old when Charlie Hoch notched his first short-handed goal of the season and, with a 3-0 lead, the visitors were well on their way to victory.

BSM had two kill two penalties, which over-lapped and gave the Rebels 3:46 of consecutive power-play, early in the period but in resulted in the Hoch goal and, afterwards, the Red Knights went back to work.

With 4:55 to play, Champlin Park gave up one last power-play opportunity and BSM didn't waste the chance.

Nick Palmer scored his eighth goal of the season from his spot on the blue line, including his second power-play tally of the season, and helped secure the 4-0 win.

 


Charlie Hoch's 13th goal of the season was a short-handed effort which gave the Red Knights a 3-0, third-period lead.

BSM held a 32-17 advantage in shots on goal for the game with Brennan Chapman turning aside all 17 Rebel shots to earn his seventh win and second shutout of the season.

The Red Knights will close out the season, Saturday, when they return to the St. Louis Park Rec Center for a 12:30 p.m. matinee game versus New Prague.
