Red Knights conclude junior varsity campaign with 4-0 win over New Prague

Chapman, Winegarner share shutout to backstop BSM win.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's used a 47-15 advantage in shots on goal to conclude the 2021-22 campaign with a 4-0 win over New Prague.

With the win, the Red Knights finish the season at 16-6-3 including an 8-1-0 mark in the Metro West Conference.

The game opened with a scoreless first period before Charlie Hoch scored his 13th goal of the season, four minutes, 19 seconds into the second period.

The game appeared to be headed to the second intermission with the hosts leading by a goal but a delayed penalty was being called on the Spartans. Red Knight goalie Charlie Winegarner came off the ice for an extra attacher and Nick Palmer proceeded to score with 30 seconds to play in the middle stanza.

Once again, BSM dominated the final 17 minutes of the game, holding a 17-4 advantage in shots on goal, while scoring twice.

The first of which came from Nick Wendt, his 11th of the season, at the 8:04 mark of the final stanza.

The Red Knights then got another late goal as Liam Moser scored his ninth goal of the season with 15 seconds to play.

Brennan Chapman recorded his team-best eighth win of the season by stopping all nine shots he faced. Winegarner came on with 6:23 to play in the second period and stopped the six shots he faced.
