BSM wins 21st game of the season to wrap up the 2022-23 season.

NEW PRAGUE, Minn. -- New Prague struck for the game's first goal but Benilde-St. Margaret's responded with six unanswered goals en route to a 6-1 win the team's season finale.

Amongst the Red Knights 21-2-2 record was a 9-0-0 mark in Metro West Conference action.

Although the Spartans opened the scoring at 10 minutes, four seconds on the opening period, Dylan Popehn tied the game just over two minutes later and a three-goal second period by the Red Knights put the game away.

Nik Wahlstrom opened the second period with his 16th goal of the season at 4:49 of the frame but two goals, 34 seconds apart, late in the middle frame put the game away.

Popehn's second goal of the game came with 1:46 to play in the second period and Liam Moser made it a 4-1 contest heading into the third period.

Again, the Red Knights scored back-to-back goals in a short period of time as the team's leading scorer's Popehn and Taylor Salmon, scored 25 seconds apart midway through the final frame.

Salmon, who stole a puck in the neutral before racing into the New Prague zone on a breakaway, notched his 23rd goal of the season and Popehn capped off his third hat trick of the season with his 25th goal of the season.

Logan Nowlin, who stopped all 16 shots he faced after giving up the Spartan's first-period goal, finished his ninth win of the season with 20 saves as the Red Knights had a 60-21 advantage in shots on goal.
