BSM unbeaten in nine of 10 games to open the season.

Benilde-St. Margaret's won twice and played to an overtime tie in its three junior varsity games at the Premiere Holiday Classic.

Led by a five-point performance by Bergan Kopischke and three goals in three games by Aaron Hatlestad, the Red Knights downed Shakopee, 4-2, and Holy Family, 8-4, at the St. Louis Park Rec Center, before a final game at the Maple Grove Community Center, where they played to a 1-1 overtime tie with the Crimson.

BSM also got outstanding goaltending from Alex Beaton and Jacob Diebel, who combined for 85 saves in three games and a combined .924 save percentage.

Three third-period goals enabled the Red Knights to overcome a 2-0 deficit to defeat Shakopee

Mark Walsma's goal with three minutes, 35 seconds to play in the middle frame, cut the Sabres' lead to 2-1 entering the final period.

Hatlestad got the equalizer, 4:34 into the period and, just 81 seconds later, Oscar Waisanen scored the eventual game winner.

Jack Johnson then tallied an insurance goal, scoring into an empty net with 59 seconds to play.

Meanwhile, Beaton turned aside 22 of the 24 shots he faced.

Friday's shootout with Holy Family saw BSM scored five times in the final period after the teams had skated to a 3-3 tie through two periods.

Hatlestad scored the first two goals of the final period with Kopischke adding another midway through the final session for a 6-1 lead.

The Fire scored with 2:34 to play but Henry Peterson shut down any thoughts of a come back by scoring into an empty net with 1:32 to play.

For good measure, Riley Shannon tacked on the final goal with 25 seconds to play in the game.

Johnny Raymond chipped into the win with three assists while record a plus-6 rating and Jacob Diebel made 24 saves to earn the win.

Saturday, Beaton backstopped BSM to its second 1-1 overtime tie of the season, with a stellar 39-save performance.

Kopischke scored BSM's lone goal, an unassisted tally, at 7:06 of the second period.

The Crimson sent the game to overtime when they scored with 3:34 to play in the game.

The Red Knights carry a 7-1-2 mark into 2025 and have a 10-day break before returning to action with their Metro West Conference opener, scheduled for 7 p.m. on the East Rink at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
