RICHFIELD, Minn. -- Aaron Hatlestad scored the game's first goal in the opening period and Bergen Kopischke's two second-period goals opened the game up and led to Benilde-St. Margaret's claiming a 3-0 junior varsity win over Holy Angels.
Hatlestad's goal came with one minute, four seconds remaining in the opening frame to cap an opening 15 minutes and was the fourth time this season in which he scored the game's first goal.
After needing nearly 14 minutes to get on the scoreboard in the opening period, BSM added to its lead just 53 seconds into the second period when Kopischke scored the first of his two goals, extending his point-scoring streak to 12 games.
Midway through the period, Kopischke struck again, marking his third consecutive game with multiple goals.
Holy Angels goalie Britton Kinney kept his team in the game by stopping 19 of 22 shots in the opening two periods. He then stopped all 18 shots he faced in the closing 15 minutes as the Red Knights held a 40-14 advantage in shots on goal for the game.
With a 14-save effort, Jacob Diebel record his second consecutive shutout and third of the season.
BSM is in action again Thursday when it returns to Metro West Conference action with a 5 p.m. game versus Orono at Morrison Arena.
Aaron Hatlestad scored the lone goal of the opening period.
