Benilde-St. Margaret's head coach Ken Pauly reached a career milestone in his team's 15-0 win over Meadow Creek Christian, earning the 250th win of his career at BSM.

Following the win, he was presented with the game puck and congratulated by his players on the ice.

"I was very touched by the kids’ gesture after the game in giving me the game puck and offering their congratulations," he said. "What’s most rewarding is to see how proud these guys are to be Red Knights and to become a part of our emerging tradition."

Now in his 16th seasons behind the Red Knight bench, Pauly has led his teams to six conference titles and three state tournament appearances. His teams won state Class A titles in 1999 and 2001 and finished third in the 2007 Class AA state tournament.

With Thursday's win, Pauly has amassed a 250-129-13 record for a .654 winning percentage. During his 19 seasons as a head coach, he has a 294-160-20.

"There are so many story lines that really put that number in perspective for me," Pauly added. "Pat Borer is one of our captains. His family’s roots run very deep at BSM and he’s been dreaming of leading this team since he was a 4th grader.

"Jake Horton is a ninth-grade defenseman for us and I went to high school with his parents and played on the same teams as his dad  (Jim) all they way up through the Wayzata youth system and high school.

"Pat Cron had a hat trick tonight and his father starred at BSM and coached for a few years in the 80s.

"Captain Patrick Duda had a big night (five points), along with his brother John (two goals, both set up by Patrick), and they are another set of players with parents who attended BSM and are a big part of this program.

"It’s just been such a rewarding journey thus far and I truly am thankful to all of the people who make Red Knight Hockey so special – especially the players. They are what it’s all about."
