Mark Kaske had a goal and assist for the Red Knights.
Burnsville scored 18 seconds into the game, scored on a penalty shot late in the first period and added a short-handed goal early in the second period and held off Benilde-St. Margaret's for a 5-3 junior varsity win.
The Blaze kept the Red Knights off of the scoreboard until Jack Sims scored seven minutes, 52 seconds into the second period.
Just 1:23 later, Mark Kaske tallied for hosts to get them back to within a goal but Burnsville would scored twice in the final 2:28 of the period to regain the three-goal lead heading into the final frame.
The Red Knights outshot the Blaze, 8-4 in the final period and had two power-play chances, scoring on one of them at 3:30 when Jack Lawton's shot from the right point found its way through traffic to cut the lead to 5-3.
Kaske had a goal and assist in the game while Matt Arnason and Zach Risteau both chipped in with two assists.
BSM returns to action Saturday for a 5 p.m. home game with Hill-Murray.
