The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) have announced the addition of forward Dallas Steward to the roster.

Steward is a fifth-year professional who was playing with the ECHL's Augusta Lynx until the franchise recently ceased operations.

This season with the Lynx, Steward scored two goals and seven assists to go with 39 penalty minutes in 18 contests before the franchise operations were suspended. His best night this season came Nov. 7, when Dallas earned two assists in the Lynx's 4-3 overtime victory over Charlotte in Augusta and was the game's number three star.

Last season, Steward played in the ECHL with Charlotte, where he scored two goals and four points and had six penalty minutes. The Checkers finished in fourth place of the ECHL's South Division and made the playoffs last year.

Prior to that, Dallas played his first two seasons in the ECHL with the Pensacola Ice Pilots. In 2006-07, Steward scored ten goals and had 23 points in 41 games to go with 50 penalty minutes. He posted 10 goals and had 22 points and 78 penalty minutes in 69 games of the 2005-06 campaign.

Steward's first professional season was with the Tulsa Oilers in the CHL, where he netted 15 goals and had 32 points with 21 penalty minutes in the 2004-05 season. Steward added two assists in five playoff games that year for the Oilers.

Steward came to the professional ranks after a four-year career with the University of Alaska-Anchorage and a three-year junior career with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League.

At UAA, Steward took part in 138 games for the Seawolves, scoring 27 goals for 59 points and 93 penalty minutes. He was the team's assistant captain his senior season at Alaska-Anchorage.

During his three years with the Gamblers, Steward played in 164 games, scored 30 goals and had 74 points with 111 penalty minutes. His last season with the Gamblers, Steward was fifth on the team in points and sixth in penalty minutes. He added six goals and eleven assists in 14 playoffs tilts.

RiverKings' head coach and director of hockey operations Kevin Kaminski says: "The report on Dallas is that he is an energy guy with great speed and a relentless work ethic who takes pride in two-way hockey. He will also add grit and offense, both scoring and playmaking. He will create a lot of offense with his speed."
