Red Knight co-captain to play for Mavericks

Benilde-St. Margaret's co-captain Pat Borer has verbally accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

In his fourth season on the Red Knights' varsity squad, Borer has compiled 15 goals and 57 points during his career.

Borer has played 17 games this season and leads the team in both average ice time, logging 27 minutes, 44 seconds per game, and shots on goal, with 75. He also has five goals and 16 points, leading BSM defensemen in both categories.

During the 2007-08 campaign, Borer played in all 31 Red Knight games as BSM placed third at the state Class AA state tournament. He had career highs with six goals, 16 assists and 22 points.

Last spring, Borer was selected by Sioux City of the United States Hockey League. He was the Musketeers' 17th-round selection, the 147th player chosen in the draft.

Borer cannot sign a National Letter of Intent with Nebraska-Omaha until April 8, the first day of the regular signing period for hockey.
