Benilde-St. Margaret's senior co-captain Pat Borer has been named to the Minneapolis Star Tribune all-metro third team.

In his fourth varsity season, Borer set career highs with 12 goals, 19 assists and 31 points. His 12 goals were the most by a Red Knight defenseman since Blake Friesen scored 14 during the 2003-04 campaign.

Borer scored seven goals and 15 points in his final nine games, including his first career hat trick in a Feb. 17 win over Chisago Lakes.

As a four-year letterwinner, Borer has been a part of four consecutive North Suburban Conference championship teams, marking all four years BSM has been a member of the conference.

With the award, Borer becomes the fourth Red Knight to earn all-metro honors. Troy Riddle (1999) and Joe Schuman (2000) were second-team honorees and, last season, Chris Student became the first BSM player to earn first-team honors.

A two-time all-conference selection, finished his high school career with 22 goals, 50 assists and 72 points in 111 career games.

Borer, who was taken in the United States Hockey League entry draft last season by Sioux City, verbally accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Nebraska-Omaha last month.
