BSM JV advances to Holiday Invitational tournament championship game

Red Knights defeat Bloomington Jefferson on late 3rd period goal by Burg

The BSM JV advanced to the championship game of the Holiday Invitational Tournament with a hard fought 3 - 2 victory over Bloomington Jefferson.

Dominic Burg opened the scoring with the first of his 2 goals at the 6:40 mark of the first period.  Vince Beacom had the assist.  Both teams had numerous scoring chances, and both goaltenders were up to the task.  The period ended with BSM clinging to a 1 - 0 lead.

Bloomington finally beat Anders Jecha on a power play goal, scored by Ben Kruger.  The rest of the period again saw scoring opportunities by both teams with both goalies standing tall.  The game was knotted up at 1 - 1 after 2 periods.

The Red Knights grabbed the lead early in the third period on a shot by Robert Papetti, with the assist going to Joey Winter.  Jefferson tied the score again at 2 at the 9:52 mark on a goal by Brady Dornfeld.  With possible overtime looming, BSM got what proved to be the game winner with 1:40 remaining in the game on a goal by Dominic Burg, again assisted by Vince Beacom and Nick Lauth.

Shots for the game were 30 - 29 in favor of the Red Knights.  BSM will advance to the championship game against Centennial on Wednesday, December 30th at 2:30pm.
