Red Knights unable to slow down the Cougars

BSM will have to settle for the 3rd place game in the Holiday Invitational tournament after being defeated by Centennial in the semi-finals by a score of 7 - 2.

The first period saw the Red Knights outshoot Centennial by a 14 - 7 margin, but Centennial got the only goal of the period.  Brett Stern scored the lone goal at the 14:16 mark of the period.

Centennial came out strong in the second period, outshooting the Red Knights 16 - 8.  The Cougars tallied 3 times in a 5 minute stretch, with goals coming from James Hughes, Joe Hess, and Zach Brickner.  Centennial had a commanding 4 - 0 lead going into the second intermission.

Hoping for a fast start to the third period by the Red Knights was quickly dashed when the Cougars scored just 51 seconds into the third period to increase their lead to 5 - 0.  The Red Knights started to pick up the attack and got on the board with a power play goal by Brett Patterson, with assists by Grant Besse and Patrick Steinheiser.  Grant Besse added a goal at the 11:35 mark to cut the lead to 5 - 2.  Christian Horn and Jake Horton had the assists.  That was as close as BSM would get, as Centennial added 2 goals to close out the scoring.  The Red Knights outshot Centennial for the game 42 - 37, but gave up 3 power play goals.

The Red Knights will face Maple Grove in the 3rd place game on Wednesday at 5:00pm.
