BSM advances to consolation final

Red Knights down Moorhead for shot at consolation title.

Benilde-St. Margaret's advanced to the consolation championship game of the Sports Authority Holiday Hockey Classic with a 4-2 win over Moorhead.

After falling in a shootout to the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars, Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights coach Ken Pauly stated that he would like to see his team finish 2-0-1 for the tournament.  They took a step closer to that as they defeated the Moorhead Spuds by a score of 4-2 in the consolation semifinal of the Sports Authority St. Louis Park Holiday Classic.

The Red Knights advanced to play the Eden Prairie Eagles in the consolation final  on Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm bye defeating the Spuds for the second time in a week.  One week ago, the Red Knights hammered the Spuds by a score of 9-2.  

This time, Jacob Dittmer tended the pipes for the Spuds and was sensational in goal making 33 saves to keep the Red Knights at bay.  

Spencer Naas continued his torrid goal scoring ways as he notched a pair of first period goals and then added an assist in the win.  Naas has picked up (18g-14a-32pts) in 12 games so far this season. In his last five games he has (8g-8-16pts) as the Red Knights have posted a 3-0-2 record in their last five games.

Ben Newhouse and Chase Jungels each scored and Jalen Long made 14 saves to earn the win in goal.
