6 power plays goals propel Red Knights to victory

Overcoming a penalty filled game and a slow start, the Red Knights got on a roll and routed St. Louis Park by a score of 8 - 1.  Anders Jecha earned his first Varsity victory in net stopping 17 of 18 shots.

The Orioles opened the scoring with the lone goal of the period scored by Nick Gaitan-Gaitan on the power play.  This would be the only goal the Orioles would get on the night, as BSM was able to kill off 8 of 9 SLP power plays.

Just 1:23 into the second period, the Orioles were whistled for a holding penalty.  The Red Knights made them pay scoring just 22 seconds with the man advantage, with Christian Horn netting his 10th goal of the season, with the assists going to Grant Besse and Brett Patterson.  A little over a minute later, SLP defenseman Sean Berens was whistled for a minor and later on the same shift a major penalty, giving the Red Knights a 7 minute power play.  BSM cashed in scoring two more power plays goals:  Will Nelson from Brett Patterson and Christian Horn, and T.J. Moore, getting his first Varsity goal from Jake Horton and Sam Anderson.  Grant Besse finished the second period scoring netting the goal with assists from Christian Horn and Jake Horton.

The penalties continued to mount up in the third period for both teams.  Five Oriole penalties resulted in 3 more power play goals for the Red Knights, being scored by Patrick Steinhauser from Brett Patterson and Will Nelson, and then Will Nelson from Grant Besse and Patrick Steinhauser, and Grant Besse getting the last power play goal of the night with his team leading 15th goal of the season from feeds from Will Nelson and Patrick Steinhauser.  BSM added one more goal at the 12:40 mark by John Duda, from Ryan Palm and Will Nelson.  For the game, the Red Knights were 6 of 12 on the power play and shots for the game were 46 - 18.

BSM takes on 12 - 1 Spring Lake Park on Saturday night at 7:30pm.
