5 goal second period breaks open the game

The BSM Knights are proving that they can win no matter how you want to play.  If you want to skate, they can play a skating game.  If you want to mix it up, they can play that way too.  Since the two teams only meet once, this was a 4 point game.  In a penalty filled game, the Red Knights defeated Spring Lake Park by a score of 8 - 4.

Spring Lake Park got the scoring going, with AJ Fossen getting the first of his 2 goals on the night at the 9:36 mark.  Patrick Steinhauser answered back at 12:06 of the period on the power play, assisted by Christian Horn and Brett Patterson.  Three minutes later, Grant Besse scored the first of his 3 goals on the night, also on the power play, with the assists going to Pat Steinhauser and Brett Patterson.  The Red Knights outshot the Panthers by a 23 - 6 margin in the first period, and held a 2 - 1 lead going into the first intermission.

The second period is where the Red Knights took control on the scoreboard, scoring 5 goals in the period.  Scorers in the period were Grant Besse from Sam Anderson and Patrick Steinhauser, Dan Labosky (on the power play) from T.J. Moore and Sam Anderson, Will Nelson from Dan Pemberton and John Duda, Grant Besse from Christian Horn and Jake Horton, and T.J. Moore from Alec Anderson.  BSM went into the third period with a comfortable 7 - 3 lead.

The third period opened with coincidental roughing penalties, which would just be the beginning of a penalty filled period.  Spring Lake Park was called for 11 penalties in the period, and 16 for the game for 42 minutes.  BSM was called for 10 penalties in the period and 13 for the game for 26 minutes.  Each team scored a goal in the period, the Red Knights (short handed) at 5:11 of the period by Sam Anderson, with the assist to Will Nelson.  Shots for the game were 50 - 30 in favor of BSM.

The Red Knight will next face Edina at Braemar at 7:00pm Tuesday.
