Three-goal third period falls short in loss to Edina.

EDINA, Minn. -- For the second consecutive game, the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity had a three-goal third period but, unlike Tuesday, it wasn't enough as the Red Knights dropped a 6-3 decision at Edina.

The Hornets scored three times in the second period, including twice in the final three minutes, to take a 5-0 lead, before BSM began its comeback.

That comeback began when Nic Dokman scored four minutes, seven seconds, into the final period to break up the shutout bid by Edina.

Johnny Woodford scored just over four minutes later with linemates Aiden Wahlstrom and Will Thompson assisting on the goal.

Wit 2:29 to play, Wahlstrom scored his third goal of the season with 2:29 to play, this time with Thompson and Woodford setting up the goal, to cut the lead to two goals, at which time the Red Knights used their timeout.

Johnny Woodford scored one goal and helped set up another.

BSM continued to get scoring chances with three more shots on goal over the next minute but it was all for naught when goalie Charlie Frattalone was pulled for an extra attacked and the Hornets' Nate Stone found the empty with 51 seconds to play in the game.

Jack Olson started in goal for the Red Knights and stopped 16 of the 19 shots he faced in 25:26 of work. Frattalone turned aside 21 of 23 shots in 26:25.

BSM is in action again Saturday, when it returns home to face Grand Rapids at 12:30 p.m.
