Red Knight JV posts shutout of Thunderhawks
Olson hangs "0" on Grand Rapids.
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Jack Olson stopped all 14 shots he faced and Charlie Johnson sealed the game with a short-handed, empty-net goal with 14.7 seconds to play as the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity picked up a 3-0 win over Grand Rapids.
Olson and Jacob Ahcan both recorded six saves in a scoreless first period before, in a pre-planned move, the Thunderhawks brought in Carter Brewster to tend their goal in the second period.
It took the Red Knights less than three minutes to get on the scoreboard following the change as Charlie Damberg scored two minutes, 51 seconds into the second stanza.
BSM would hold a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal during the middle frame but it took nearly 11 minutes before it got the scoreboard again with Alex Bronkala notching the goal which would send the hosts into the second intermission with a 2-0 lead.
Brewster kept his team within reach but Olson was keeping Grand Rapids off the scoreboard deep into the third period.
The Thunderhawks were unable to take advantage of three third-period power-play chances and got a fourth with 1:27 to play in the game.
They would manage to get Brewster off the ice for a sixth attacked with 52 seconds to play in the game, but two of their three shot attempts would go wide before Bronkala got the puck along the right-side boards and up to Charlie Johnson, who iced the puck into an empty net to put the game away.

The Red Knight penalty kill unit was put to work in the game and came through with flying colors, killing all nine Grand Rapids power-play chances while generating four shots, including Johnson's short-handed goal.
Although going 0-for-3 on the power play, the Red Knights generated eight shots on goal, four of which came in the opening period.
After playing three games in five days, BSM gets a six-day respite before returning to action in the North-South Classic, facing host Brainerd in a 6 p.m. game Friday, followed Saturday by a 12:30 p.m. matinee versus Hermantown.
