Cadets' defense stifles Red Knights

Charlie Frattalone

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- St. Thomas limited Benilde-St. Margaret's to just eight shots on goal and cruised to a 4-0 junior varsity win.

Charlie Frattalone kept the Red Knights in the game by stopping 22 of 24 shots through two periods.

However, the Cadets sealed the win with a pair of goals in the game's final six minutes, including a power-play tally with five minutes, 11 seconds to play.

With the score still 2-0, BSM had back-to-back power-play opportunities, including 24 seconds of 5-on-3 play, but the Red Knights generated just one shot on goal and the hosts made it a 3-0 game just over three minutes later.

Frattlone finished the game with 24 saves as St. Thomas held a 28-6 advantage in shots on goal.

BSM returns to action Friday, playing its first home game in 13 days when the Red Knights host Moorhead, at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center, beginning at 5 p.m.
