ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Christian Thingvold's goal with six minutes, 52 seconds remaining in the game snapped a tie game and gave Moorhead's junior varsity a 3-2 win over Benilde-St. Margaret's.
The Red Knights led twice in the game, the first time when Aiden Wahlstrom scored on the power play after the teams had skated through nearly 22 minutes of scoreless play.
The Spuds evened the score heading into the final intermission but Willie Hower got that goal back, giving BSM its second lead of the game, just 1:53 into the final period, but it took less than two minutes for Moorhead to even the score once again.
Red Knight goalie Jack Olson, who made 26 saves, was pulled for an extra attacker in the game's final minute with the teams skating one player short.
BSM attempted seven shots, three of which were on net, but the Red Knights were unable to get the equalizer.
They will play two more games before the Christmas break. Next up is Armstrong/Cooper, whom BSM will face Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Red Knights are then back at the Rec Center next Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. game versus Duluth Marshall.
Jack Olson turned in a 26-save effort.
