No. 13 Moorhead uses power-play to get past No. 16 BSM.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Moorhead scored twice in the third period, snapping a 1-1 tie with its second power-play goal of the game, and handed Benilde-St. Margaret's a 3-1 defeat.

The game was scoreless until two minutes, 15 seconds remained in the opening period when Michael Overbo scored on the power play to give Moorhead the first lead of the game.

The Red Knights got that goal back just 51 seconds into the second period when James Callahan passed the puck from the right point to Seamus Foley at the left point. Foley's shot was then deflected past Spud goalie Hudson Hodges by Jett Johnson.

The score remained tied for nearly 20 minutes before Moorhead got the eventual game winner when Luke Gramer's shot from inside the blue line was stopped by Red Knight goalie Carson Limesand.

Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe had two rebound attempts thwarted by Limesand, who also stopped Nolan Westra's rebound attempt, but Westra finally jammed the puck underneath Limesand for the go-ahead goal.

The Spuds added an insurance tally when Gavin Fullmer took advantage of a BSM turnover, picked up the puck in the right circle and quickly made it a 3-1 game.

Hodges and Limesand put on a goaltending battle as Hodges stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced, while Limesand made 25 saves, including 11 in the second period to enable BSM to take the 1-1 tie into the final period.

The Red Knights return to action Tuesday, facing Armstrong/Cooper in a 7 p.m. game at New Hope Arena.

Seamus Foley had a season-high three shots on goal and set up BSM's lone goal.
