Eight-goal third turns tight game into a Red Knight win.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- After three power-play goals resulted in a 2-1 Benilde-St. Margarets' lead after two periods, the Red Knights and Duluth Marshall combined for eight third-period goals as BSM posted a 7-4 win.

Both teams scored three times on the power play with Willie Hower's first-period power-play tally putting the Red Knights up 1-0 and Logan Lyke scored the first of his two goals with four minutes, 41 seconds to play in the second period, also on the power play.

With the middle stanza coming to a close, Carson Mehling got loose on the left-wing boards and his power-play marker with 0.5 seconds on the clock cut the lead in half.

The teams then traded power-play goals to open the third period, with Mehling scoring 3:15 into the final stanza, less than three minutes before Charlie Johnson restored the two-goal lead when his shot from the right point found its way through traffic.

Nic Dokman had career highs with four assists and five points.

Asher Connolly had two goals and two assists in his first significant playing time as a Red Knight.

Nic Dokman's goal with 5:36 to play gave BSM some breathing room with a 5-2 lead but Nate Scullard-Bender answered just 26 seconds later.

Asher Connolly, who played just one shift in his Red Knight debut, Tuesday, then scored 84 seconds later to, once again, give the Red Knights a three-goal lead.

Marshall wouldn't go away, however, as Sam Aamodt scored a power-play goal with 60 seconds to play, bringing on a Hilltoppers timeout to set up a 6-on-5 as they pulled goalie Austin Wick for an extra attacker.

BSM wouldn't allow its guest a chance to cut the lead to one goal and, with 37 seconds remaing, Connolly stole the puck behind the Marshall goal and scored on a wraparound to seal the win.

Lyke, who finished the game with a pair of goals and two assists, record 10 of the Red Knights' 30 shots on goal while Connolly also had two goals and two assists, with Dokman tallying a five-point outing, which included four assists.

BSM is off until after Christmas, returning to action at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center for the Holiday Hockey Classic. The Red Knights will face Holy Family, Thursday, at 10 a.m. They will then take on Wayzata, Friday, at 8 a.m., before rounding out tournament play, Saturday, with a 12:30 p.m. game versus Lakeville South.
