Scoring from all three forward lines and the defense leads BSM to shutout win.

Jack Olson recorded his first varsity shutout in the victory over Marshall.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's got goals from all three forward lines, on from its defense, and the No. 18 Red Knights clamped down on Duluth Marshall, allowing just seven shots on goal, in a 6-0 victory.

It took just three minutes, 11 seconds, to get on the scoreboard when Nate Schweitzer's power-play blast from the left circle found the back of the net.

Just 43 seconds later, Cooper Gay took a pass in the right circle from Charlie Warnert and quickly snapped off a shot between the feet Hilltopper goalie Alex Busick.

Two goals, 71 seconds apart, in the third period proved to be back breakers as BSM took a 4-0 lead.

The first came when Blake Messenburg tipped a Marshall power-play shot attempt at the left point in his own zone. Seamus Foley batted the puck down and quickly passed it to Ian Bahr, streaking through center ice.

Bahr then did the rest, breaking into the Hilltopper zone all alone and faking a shot from the slot before moving to the right and scoring into an open net for the team's fourth short-handed goal of the season.

BSM took a 5-0 lead with 6:10 to play in the period when Blake Mesenburg scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season, giving the Red Knights two power-play goals in a game for the first time this season.

The game went into running time less than three minutes into the final period when Woodford hooked up with Mortenson for the latter's second goal of the season.

The Red Knights had a 44-7 advantage in shots on goal. Schweitzer accounted for eight of those shots while scoring a goal and an assist. Mesenburg had five shots and added two assists to his goal.

Next up for BSM is the three-game Holiday Hockey Classic, Thursday through Saturday at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center.

The Red Knights face Holy Family, Thursday, at 2:30 p.m., before taking on Wayzata in a 7:30 p.m. affair, Friday. They then wrap up play with a 5:00 p.m. game, Saturday, versus Lakeville South.

Johnny Woodford scored his first varsity goal and added his first varsity assist.
