Skippers scored goals in final four minutes of each period to claim win.

MINNETONKA, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's scored first but Minnetonka would scored all five of its goals in the final three minutes, 30 seconds of each period and the top-ranked Skippers handed the No. 15 Red Knights a 5-1 defeat, ending a five-game winning streak.

Blake Mesenburg struck for his team-leading 13th goal of the season with 6:43 to play in the opening period and, it appeared, that goal would hold up for a lead heading into the first intermission.

But, with 4.3 seconds remaining in the period, Griffin Streeter dove over BSM goalie Carson Limesand to put home a Jack Bayless rebound on the power-play.

Blake Mesenburg (left) and Jackson Bisson hooked up to give BSM a 1-0 lead.

It would be Bayless scoring on the power-play with 3:22 to play in the second period which gave the Skippers the lead when he blasted a one-timer from the top of the right circle into the back of the net.

Griffin Streeter would make it a 3-1 lead with 1:14 to play in the middle frame and a 13-save period by Limesand was not enough to keep Minnetonka at bay.

The teams would skate through nearly 14 minutes of scoreless hockey in the final period as the Red Knights stayed within reach of the lead. However, two goals 2:58 apart in the game's final 3:11 would prove the hosts the final difference in the four-goal win.

Minnetonka had a 28-17 advantage in shots on goal with Limesand recording 23 saves.

The Red Knights don't get a respite in the schedule as they face No. 9 Hill-Murray, Saturday, in a 7 p.m. game.
