Red Knights unable to overcome penalties in loss to Hawks.

CHASKA, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's spent 15 of the game's 45 minutes on the penalty kill and Chaska recorded 14 of its 23 shots on goal with the man advantage, leading to the Hawks recording a 2-1 win over the Red Knights.

In all, BSM was assessed 10 penalties for 42 minutes resulting in six Chaska power-plays.

The Red Knights fell behind, 1-0, three minutes, 21 seconds into the second period but were able to stay in the game thanks to its penalty kill.

However, the Hawks second goal came on the power play and was controversial as it appeared to have been kicked in. However, officials deemed it a good goal and the Hawks led 2-0 midway through the second period.

BSM finally got on the scoreboard when Charlie Damberg scored with 6:45 to cut the lead in half and set up a finish that came down to the wire.

Just 43 seconds later, the Red Knights went on the power play and then the Hawks were called for a five-minute major, giving BSM a 50-on-3 power play for 90 seconds and 5:30 of consecutive power-play time.

It was Chaska's turn to show off its penalty kill as they prevented the visitors from getting the equalizer.

Jack Olson also played a key role in keeping BSM in game, stopping 21 of 23 shots, including 13 of 14 on the power play.

Next up for the Red Knights is another road test in the Metro West Conference. BSM will be at the Victoria Recreation Center, Thursday, for a 5 p.m. meeting with Chanhassen.

Charlie Damberg's third goal of the season was his second in two games.
