Three-goal second period enables Red Knights to get past Hawks.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's scored all three of its goals in the second period and held on at the end for a 3-2 win over Chaska to snap a four-game winless streak.

After going just 1-for-13 on the power play during their four-game winless streak, the Red Knights went 2-for-4 versus the Hawks and generated 12 of their 34 shots on goal with the man advantage.

BSM's first goal came on the power-play just 35 seconds into the second period when Nic Dokman found a loose puck to knock home off a Will Thompson rebound to give his team a 1-0 lead.

Thompson also collected an assist on the Red Knights' second goal, a shot by Charlie Johnson from the right point, which found its way through traffic, to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Jack Olson's 17-save effort helped BSM snap a four-game winless streak.

The Hawks cut the lead in half with a short-handed goal with 2:36 to play in the period but the Red Knights responded 24 seconds later, finish off the power play chance when Sam Ryan came out of the left corner with the puck to score his fourth goal of the season.

Chaska cut the lead to one goal once again 2:28 into the final period but, with Jack Olson back-stopping them, the Red Knights held off the Hawks to earn the win.

Olson finished with 17 saves as BSM had a 34-19 advantage in shots on goal, thanks in large part to a 12-3 advantage in power-play shots.

The Red Knights return to Metro West Conference play tomorrow as they are back at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center, where they will be the visiting team in a 5 p.m. meeting with St. Louis Park.
