Schweitzer, Mesenburg collect hat tricks, six points apiece.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Nate Schweitzer and Blake Mesenburg both had hat tricks in six-point outings as 10th-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's wrapped up it's regular season with a 9-2 win over Bloomington Kennedy.

• The Points

Mesenburg and Schweitzer each had six points, the most by a Red Knight player since Cade Gleekel ('16) put up six points in a win at Chanhassen (1/30/16).

Schweitzer's hat trick was the first by a BSM defenseman since that same game, when Nick Austin ('16) tallied three goals. It was just the fourth hat trick by a Red Knight blue liner in the last 13 seasons.

Schweitzer also extended his point-scoring streak to seven games, during which time he has scored eight goals and 17 points, with four of his goals coming on the power play.

He now has 14 goals on the season, the most by a BSM defenseman since Jake Horton ('12) scored 14 during the 2011-12 season.

Mesenburg, who had a nine-game point-scoring streak snapped Thursday, has scored points in 20 of 25 games this season with 13 multiple-point games.

Meanwhile, Adam Marshall turned in a four-assist performance, the most since Gleekel had six at Chanhassen. It also marked the most assists by a freshman in 13 seasons.

Adam Marshall's career-best four-assist outing were the most by a Red Knight in two years.

James Callahan reached the 20-point mark on the season with three assists versus Kennedy.

James Callahan added a career-best three assists, reaching the 20-point mark for the season, a total not reached by a BSM sophomore defenseman since Horton scored 32 points in 2009-10.

• Special Teams

When they allowed two power-play goals to Chaska, Tuesday, it ended a five-game stretch in which the Red Knights had been perfect on the penalty kill.

However, they closed the regular season by going 8-for-8 on the penalty kill in their last three games and BSM was 35-for-37 (.946) on the kill in its last five games.

Likewise, the power-play unit has turned things around, having gone 4-for-6 versus Kennedy. BSM has scored a power-play goal in six of its last eight games, going 12-for-32 (.375).

• Shooting Gallery

BSM held Kennedy to five shots on goal, a season-best effort, while recording 44 shots, the 16th time in 25 games the Red Knights have topped 30 shots and the seventh time in their last eight games, topping the 40-shot mark three times in their last eight games.

• That's a Wrap

BSM put a wrap on its regular season with an 18-7-0 mark and expect a home game in the first round of the Section 6AA playoffs, pairings for which will be announced tomorrow.

The Red Knights will likely be at home, Thursday, for a quarterfinal game at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center.
